Advocacy and public affairs

The Regional Council of South Karelia promotes the interests and renewal of the South Karelia region. We work to enhance the vitality and success of the region and the well-being of its residents. The Regional Council of South Karelia acts as a unifying force in the area, recognised as a solution‑oriented and respected partner.

Our advocacy work is based on reliable information and transparency. We are proactive, yet ready to respond swiftly to unexpected issues affecting the region. The council’s advocacy objectives are developed in close cooperation with municipalities, key stakeholders and businesses in South Karelia.

Strong relationships with decision-makers form the foundation of successful advocacy. We maintain close contact with Members of Parliament, ministers and their cabinets, as well as civil servants across various ministries.

Our main advocacy priorities focus on EU cohesion policy, transportation and connectivity, investment promotion, and education and research policy.
